Emmanuel Baptist College is a government-approved secondary school located at Tanke, Area of the Ilorin South Local government area of Kwara State, Nigeria. Emmanuel Baptist College is a citadel of learning established by Emmanuel Baptist Church with the aim of giving qualitative education in an atmosphere of the fear of God towards raising godly young people at the secondary education level. We thank God for a journey of about one and a half decades. We plant, God, watered, it germinated, flowered and brought forth, and yet bringing forth fruits.
It all started as a mustard seed in a grand style. In the year 2000, October 9 to be precise, the school was established. By the grace of God, we have turned out the ninth (9th) set. The first set of the class was in 2006. Out of these classes we have been able to produce professionals of good grades from the universities, colleges of Education and polytechnics.
Since the inception of the school, the management of the school has been headed by four (4) notable personalities of Emmanuel Baptist Church. They are Chief J.A. Omoniyi (2000-2006), Dr N.A. Odediran (2007-2010), Prince J.O. Oyewopo (2010-2012), Dcn. Dr W. R. Okunloye (2012-2014), Chief J. A. Omoniyi (2014-till date). To God be the glory. These people mentioned have been able to paddle the canoe to a notable point of success. Also, within the short time of existence, the administration of the school has gone through the hands of three able principals. They are Chief J. K. Otitoju (200-2007), Mr. A.A. Akinyemi (2007-2010) and Mr. O.E. Obaro (2010 – till date). Through the hands of these people, the school has been able to produce products of a good class of honour from various universities in Nigeria.
Worthy of note are some of the foundation members of staff who are still in the system and who have been working tirelessly toward the success of the school. Among them are Mr. Idowu Akindele, now Vice-Principal Administration, Mrs. O G. Ogundele, now, Vice Principal, Miss. Tope Awesu, Home Economics Teacher, Mrs. Babtunde E. F., typist, Mr Adgbenro Adeyemi and Mr. Oladele, security unit officers.
In the fifteen years of the college existence, good philanthropists in Emmanuel B Baptist Church have steadily been committed to assisting the school both financially and other areas, yet they desire to remain anonymous. Special financial assistance was set aside by church for indigent students. This has been operational. The Parent Teachers Association (P.T.A) efforts have been tremendous ever since the inauguration on 30th March 2001.
Since 2007 the school has been operating with modern classes of its own without further use of any temporary structures.
The P.T.Contributions have assisted the school to move forward steadily. The P.T.A has helped in reconstructing the computer Laboratory, P.T.A. has also helped in the purchase of textbooks and reference books. Also, they provided the school with 10KVA and 15KVA generators, examination seats and also purchasing of a 30- seater coaster bus. Thanks to all parents and especially the officials- Mrs P.O. Adefila, chairperson, Mr. Paul Odeh , Vice-chairperson, Mrs. Oladosu, Treasurer and Mr. P.O. Adedokun, Secretary. We appreciate your moral and financial support to the college.
The school is blessed with good science laboratory materials and qualified and dedicated teachers in addition to other enviable facilities. Our JSS 3 and SSS3 students have continually made the college proud in both NECO and WAEC examinations. Some feats are worthy to be placed on record. Some of our ex-students just graduating from tertiary institutions are doing the school proud. Some of them graduated with first-class honours in various disciplines.
The Among such ex-students is Adetunji Oluwaseyi Adegoke (2007/2008 Emmanuel College set) who graduated with first-class honours during in Bio-Chemistry in 2013 from Babcock University. Also, Miss Folorunsho ‘Yemi Comfort (2008/2009 graduating EBCO set) graduated with First class honours degree in Agric Science with major in Animal Production and best graduating student of the institution from the Kwara State University, Malete. Also, credit should also be given to all stakeholders, Emmanuel Baptist Church(the proprietor), Emmanuel Baptist College and staff, P.T.A as well as students for different roles that have worked in unison to enhance academic excellence and recognition of Emmanuel Baptist College as one of the best secondary schools in Kwara State and beyond.
